Computer, Internet, and AI Cases
Attorney Frey defends people in Ohio facing:
- Computer and internet crime investigations and charges, including cases that start with an online report, a search warrant for devices, or records obtained from a technology company
- AI-related investigations, including deepfakes, AI-generated sexual content, voice cloning, and AI-assisted fraud
- First-time accusations, where early decisions can shape everything that follows
These cases turn on digital evidence. Attorney Frey looks closely at how the evidence was gathered, whether the searches were lawful, what the forensic facts actually show, and what the government would have to prove. He can work with independent forensic examiners when the evidence calls for it. Learn more about computer and internet crime defense, or visit our national site, InternetCrime.com.
Federal Court in Ohio
Many computer, internet, and AI cases are federal. Attorney Frey is admitted to both of Ohio’s federal district courts.

Federal investigations often run quietly for months. The first sign may be a search warrant, a target letter, or agents asking to “just talk.” Federal cases have their own rules and sentencing guidelines, and an early detention hearing can shape the rest of the case.
State Court in Ohio
Not every case is federal. In Ohio, felonies are heard in each county’s court of common pleas, misdemeanors are generally heard in municipal and county courts, and state charges are brought by the county prosecuting attorney. For some first-time offenders, Ohio law allows pretrial diversion (which requires the prosecutor’s agreement and excludes violent offenses) or intervention in lieu of conviction in certain cases. None of it is automatic.
What to Expect When You Call
